Who Can Join

The Credit Union's field of membership is limited to continuing salaried employees of Howard University, Howard University Hospital and retirees of HU or HUH. Family members* are also eligible** to join.

Additionally, credit union membership is for life. Once a member always a member — whether you leave your current employer, retire, or move away. To join, simply open a share account with a minimum of $51. $50 is the minimum deposit to the share account and the $1 is a one time processing fee. After your account is open, you can take advantage of any other services that the Credit Union offers. If you would like to open an account, simply stop by and complete the new member form.

U. S. Patriot Act

Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask you for your name, place of residence, mailing address, date of birth, social security number and other information that will allow us to identify you. We will also ask to see your driver’s license and/or other identifying documents.

*Spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent or grandchild.
** At this time, family members are not eligible to apply for loans.
